goaltendersorry sorry i said i'd stop posting but quick 5 minute thing to gather all my thoughts in one place because i keep getting distracted by EVERYTHING and it is so bad.
need to finish the f1 stats post and then catch up with yellowjackets and start jury duty/silo... i finally watched the latest ted lasso and i legitimately think this has become the worst show on the planet and yet somehow i force myself through each new episode anyway. also i finished abbott s2 and i FELT THINGSSSS over miss gregory autistic ass... Inability to engage in small talk unless it's about baseball stats is a bit on the nose but i'm not complaining he's perfect 2 me.
literally every day i'm like girl help because i have no idea how to exist online... and i feel unbearable and horrible when i do speak but then i feel so antisocial and boring if i don't engage with anyone at all dsklafshdflkh i'm really trying my best i'm just an old person and tumblr is the porch and i don't know anything. c'est comme ça mais à la fin we ball
trying to write again but i am so slow and it takes so much mental energy that it's like god what on EARTH are you doing, but basically the hit list rn is quinnfic + this 2124 that's been floating around in my mind and is starting to terrorize my need for robo meta analysis... then if i can actually get going i'd like to save the 2129 goalie^2 fic for what i'd submit to starsfest ;__; but i don't know man. i also really want 5310 in my life or some kind of johnnyship but i can't quite figure out what that'd look like (other than the prompt i submitted which got claimed so i am VERY excited at the thought of it potentially getting filled <3 and i guess if it never does maybe i can tackle it later in the summer)... it's fine though.
thinking about how possibly the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me ficwise is that time some bts fan wrote one of those well-meaning but functionally unbearable "why is only a/b/o fic popular with bts fans, we need to appreciate the deep Emoshunal stuff :(" viral hot takes on twitter and then LINKED MY DUMB JIKOOK FIC UNDER IT AS AN EXAMPLE and drove a wholly unnecessary amount of attention to it in the ensuing few days. it was like what if i killed myself and died right here... anyway... i don't really know why writing is the singlemost excruciating thing to share on the internet when i post so much other dumb shit all the time lol (gifs/art/videos/literal websites etc...) it really is because it's something i'm so uniquely bad at and then i just get embarrassed about it but also who cares i guess? but at least with art it's like no one (well i'd hope so) is secretly laughing at how horrible your random fanart is but i do feel like fic makes people feel so automatically entitled to dissecting it which makes me more nervous than it should aklsdfhalh i work hard to not talk about people's writing online unless it's purely appreciative so maybe it's just my personal boundary. but again it doesn't matter this wasn't even the point of this post...

- losing my mind because saad is apparently going to publish a whole article about this soon re: i guess tydel leadership qualities and his and otter's friendship? but just from what he shared on this radio show i was listening to, he was like the reason i said tydel might be a good fit for future captaincy is because when i /asked/ the players at the end of last season who'd be captain after jbenn he was the most popular option... idr if he'd already said that in his old article but i only remembered it as being "he's a good glue guy" (through saad's own perception) and not specifically the players nominating him so that was interesting to hear. ALSO him saying that not only does otter's younger brother really like delly but he's basically fully integrated into the oettinger family because of how much time he and otter spent in the ahl + bubble together and then he had to bring up the lore of otter and delly sharing their 1st win + 1st goal together T__T girl wtf... this guy crafting the forever-bonded narratives for us right in front of my face.
- it's literally like the perfect Oh My God They Were Roommates set-up but then johnny is also there so. btw the way they've snowballed the johnny stuff as of late is KILLING MEEEE but it is kind of sweet, even though it's also just so insane especially because everyone keeps calling joe wyatt's landlord despite the only form of payment wyatt has been held to since coming to dallas being getting forced to go on that one torchpro interview and getting asked awkward questions by pav's random media brand employee hasdfllskdfh. also asking the resident millennial to comment on the homelife dynamic between your beloved team vet and 19 y/o rookie is again insane to me, but tseg being like oh yeah joe loveesss having him around and getting to talk shop with him is oddly enough mostly charming. again wyatt just being a functionally Good Kid helps but all of this in the face of tseg "damn maybe i shouldn't have been living alone when i went to boston" is like... sort of a lot.
- i like wj53 way too much but again i keep reflecting on calder stuff and how his stock has changed and i am so touched that i was just RIGHT about what his growth curve would look like and the strengths of his game and in appreciating his consistency over the course of the regular season and saying he'd finally get his offensive breakout coming into r2, but again... i mean everyone's been saying that it's just really satisfying to watch it all come together.
^ deleted the post i dumped this on so for posterity's sake. it's all about recalibrating expectations... also i watched a bunch of his old sp*ts videos and why is he literalsdflkahdfhdafslkh SORRY for being one of those distinctly online people but this is indeed what they call "son-shaped". 6 minute video of just him reading green eggs and ham on the youtube channel for charity vs. this teammate of his making him giggle uncontrollably in all the postgames... i really do think from how beloved he is by the team and his ability for social camouflage in a way that is quite similar to otter, on top of actually having 2C skill/potential, that he ultimately makes more sense for future captaincy than delly does and also maybe a bit robo but that's still hugely ambiguous. i said a long time ago that i felt like robo was motivated for captaincy even if he didn't have the innate drive for it and i do still believe that a little bit although perhaps some of that is colored by recency bias with playoff struggles, and i also think ownership would like him to eventually be captain and that nothing really points to the captain needing to necessarily fit the current (mn voice) grit first Power Forward archetype jbenn was perfectly suited for at the time. kind of losing it though because when jbenn and pavs retire it's literally going to leave seg as the last-standing vet presence in the room... if he's still here i guess we'll see.
but literally pdb being like Actually otter had an A when he was a sophomore in college, and if he weren't a goalie then he'd 100% be one of the captains for this team, etc. is just SOOO much. and i mean literally almost every skill guy ends up being an alternate/captain in his junior days because it's juniors so it's nothing special, but logan and wyatt both having SUCH parallel d+1 journeys and both being captains and wyatt dragging an underdog windsor team to the ohl finals, and then otter getting the A despite being a goalie and constantly being complimented for being the perfect locker room guy, and then even ty captaining the firebirds for 2 seasons... and robo had the A in kingston so there's that too. hmm. also this is hidden lore but i've been dying at the fact that when cliff pu aka mitch marner's ex got traded to the fronts and played with robo in 2017 they called each other yellow line... my guys...........
like HKLSDFH ok. also speaking of embarrassing junior shit does ANYONE remember that selfie amatthews took when the u18 usa team won gold in 2015 and you could see everyone standing naked in the reflection??? i JUSTTTTT realized that the guy he took the selfie with was OTTER SHDFLKHQWORIHWEFKLSDFHLKSDFHL SDF>DF >. i don't think wyatt should have been a calder finalist and i think it's objectively true he didn't outperform beniers and power over the course of the entire regular season, which is what the calder trophy rewards, but also i still think it's JUST as impressive that he came out of the ohl at age 19 and has adjusted so well into the nhl and is now proving himself to be so entirely competitive and productive in a winning system. does not being named finalist for an individual trophy really reduce the value of that? like with robo and kaprizov it's really... you can point at production down the line and at star potential, but the calder trophy doesn't reward performance against relative expectation or late-season pushes, it's a holistic measuring tool, and at the end of the day if we can say "well our rookie who didn't play college hockey at all and was drafted 23oa is somewhat comparable to the surefire 1oa-2oas who have both age and size on him even though no one thought he'd last past 9 games coming into the season" then that is truly still special to me. like i was kind of surprised to see how actually derisive people were about power and especially that they were ragging on his points total + offensive metrics in comparison to johnny's goal-scoring (which is literally only ONE component of why his game has been so impressive and solid) because that's op's wheelhouse and what he's shown so much dynamism for already !@#?!@#? like a rookie d-man entrusted with tough matchups all season long putting up 35 points relative to the obvious calder winner's 57 is good... am i crazy........
