this is making me come to terms with the fact that perhaps the fo being obsessed with giving old men who suck Time and Money works both ways and is part of the culture that helps pavs feel like he belongs....... i guess i can respect it 😔 also ngl reading all the recent coverage on his extension after i wrote this post has got me even MORE intrigued by his growth and role on this team it's actually sooo fascinating to me!!! like plugged into analytics by a biomechanist OK...
tbh i do feel like with his smarts and the way his skills/late-career self-developmental success align perfectly with the holistic growing pains the young stars core have he's in the perfect position to transition to an operations role come retirement (though preferably without the whole Trading him to the sabres for a year of cap relief purposes part first). although i guess part of that will also depend on how his Last dash at the cup shakes out, and like upcoming acquisitions and trade deadline moves and how much longer he gets to spend with a competitive roster etc. because it's easy to say that there's mutual respect between him and management right now but i'm sure there are ways that r/s could sour without us being able to predict. though that's not really the point here LOL
"maybe coworkers who are strangers is comparatively ideal" <<< exactly exactly this is truly THE thesis 2 me. hm i need to sit on this half-baked thought more but i think it's interesting because some teams to me are like... well the language and expectation of what a "team culture" should look like varies so much depending on whether you're media, a ~regular~ fan, a twitter/tumblr/rpf fan, etc. and like sometimes this does align well when the connections are obvious because good_vibes and friendship Can drive on-ice chemistry but sometimes the chasm is more pronounced than you'd think which makes it hard to fully evaluate the stars in line with many big-market rosters. like if you ask a tumblr and reddit fan to evaluate nux team culture you will get respectively Very different answers LOL....... tho other things will still be rooted in the same reality. also speaking of the LOCKERROOMCANCER stuff i'm likee. well that's actually a great point full stop and i do wonder when those expectations evolved and you're right that there just isn't the same fandom "tolerance" for those kinds of tensions anymore LOL. but also is amazing to me to see people on tumblr still enjoy jt miller's Normal Moments and giffing like cherrypicked postwin Positive_Interactions he has with fandom blorbos out of nowhere because i'm like this is literally NOT THE SITUATION WE'RE IN RIGHT NOW!!! girls we needed to be reframing Yesterday...... 😔. it's fine.
i honestly don't know why i was so shocked when i saw the ig stories of starsplayers shooting hoops tgt earlier i was like Damn u guys are allowed to film things u do off the ice? this is the mandated teambonding exercise orchestrated by jbenn after getting shut out by the ducks??? everyone @ nils like ok little swedish boy hit the griddy as penance for being -4 on the season. Now.
pp1 vibes or perhaps i should say abject lack of vibes truly unmatched because like i'm sure benn gets along fine with everyone and is actually a good captain or whatever but i feel like wyatt especially is his first Actual rookie he can assert influence over in a while and he never really got to build that up with robo...??? so he and robo are very much... power play symbiosis and amenable vibes and "i respect what u are managing to accomplish this season despite our careers and respective contracts and roles on the team being kind of inherently contradictory/divergent in positioning and trajectory". and i think it's funny because it's definitely miroope in their own bubble doing their own thing but the thought of roope just wordlessly getting into position or setting up for a play when he hears robo's vague yapping somewhere in his distant periphery gets me every time LMFAO...... roope definitely thinks he's annoying but maybe it's charming and helps foster a more robust relationship. <3 also 2 me it's interesting because when we talk about like every single non-european starsguy being an avid golfer and then the europeans just being the finns separate from that and how robo exists in limbo i feel like everyone glosses over the fact that his best friend on the team is objectively fellow michiganguy Scott Wedgewood.
btw apologies for the amount of world juniors content i've unleashed lately but thankfully that should die down now T__T LMFAO but yes the bc vibes r kind of fun i don't know! cb98 is actually like that with Everyone which is why it's so disorienting to me like the kid's obsessive fanboy energy is unbeatable... he called tyler motte his favorite player last year which is SUCH a Generational Talent/Noted Skill Guy with fourth-line grinder fomo envy thing to say. & yes maybe it's not always about the stats and spreadsheets but also this chart pleased me greatly when i woke up today
