yeah that makes sense! and i think players are also more aware of themselves as being Consumed via different socmed / team pr / trad sports journalism channels as well as On Ice Performance....
>hrpf narrative collection ok yeah that's a useful way of thinking about it.... even the kind of narratives that tend to be focused on, i think hrpf for Obvious Reasons are most interested in interpersonal dynamics and friendships and maybe some like key Character moments on ice (but that's more as secondary flavour). i do feel like hrpf used to be much more team narrative / team dynamics oriented but seems to be swinging more Blorbo/OTP tunnel vision these days........ which may or may not have to do with shifting PR strategies hmmm
i do feel reddit/regular fandom is more concerned with team performance narratives (rebuilding, going all in, play style, etc) but kinda more in terms of what's strategically useful for Winning or at least Satisfying Entertainment lol -> speaking of nux, because i feel like their fandom and media getting louder and louder w/ the STOP TREADING WATER AND JUST BLOW IT ALL UP ALREADY!!!!! I WOULD RATHER HAVE HOPE FOR THE FUTURE THAN ANOTHER VERY OBVIOUS FIRST ROUND PLAYOFFS EXIT is a good example of normies getting meta with it
>jrob otter normal but also evil alignment / goalie vs fwds right like the mirror of otter's attitude living in a fwd is also funny to think about, and then to have them basically get slowly magnetically pulled together due to the desire to ":3" when ruining the other guy's cool trick.... obviously jrob's whole thing is I love scoring i love to get Goals it's my Craft and i Hone it etc etc but how much of that is more specifically i love to score on AN ENEMY and i love to get goals PAST SOME GUY...I LIKE TO TRICK YOU!!!... is it important to have the element of victory over SOMEONE in a duel-like format or is it just a pure skills accuracy thing where he'd be just as happy if he was doing weird fancy shots alone w/ a cardboard cutout. it's kinda weird that it isn't a more common attachment-style on various teams but maybe their specific balance of Caring A Lot About Made Up Points That Don't Matter is just uniquely compatible for same-age same-talent-level reasons. ia though on otter being more generally capable of bro-passing when needed, i feel like jrob-wedge friendship is so conspicuous bc it's like wow true jrob really is a 32yo new york times reader that no one knows what to do with bc if you're on a hockey team and under 25 you're meant to be semi-feral, not playing sudoku on your phone for 3 hours or whatever he does on plane rides
